Inside WinFX
Get a preview of the next generation of the .NET Framework.

Posted April 12, 2004

WinFX is the new programming interface introduced in Longhorn, the code name for the next major version of Windows. A superset of the .NET Framework, WinFX is an object-oriented API that replaces the Win32 API from previous Windows versions. "If you're familiar with the .NET Framework today," says Brad Abrams in his "What is WinFX?" video (see Resources), "you're going to be right at home with WinFX."

Here's an overview of WinFX's primary application models, along with its types and namespaces.
(The colors in the legend correspond to the colors of the cells containing the individual types and namespaces.) We'll add more information as it becomes available.
