Certicom has introduced Security Builder Crypto-C#, a cryptographic developer toolkit for the Microsoft .NET Framework and .NET Compact Framework. With Security Builder Crypto-C#, developers can port most crypto algorithms, including Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC), from their desktop .NET Framework-based applications to Windows CE .NET, thus reducing development time. Security Builder Crypto-C#, built on the Security Builder Crypto 4.0 platform, provides its functionality through a standard Microsoft Visual C# .NET API. Security Builder Crypto-C# includes FIPS-validated algorithms and standards-based ECC implementations.

NeoSpeech, which already provides text-to-speech engines for desktop and server environments, has unveiled a new SDK for Windows Mobile and Windows CE developers designing speech-enabled mobile applications for small handheld devices.

Psion Teklogix is demonstrating its WorkAbout Pro, a Windows CE .NET-based handheld introduced earlier this month. WorkAbout Pro offers many expansion, radio, and data input options along with extensive device customization capabilities through Psion Teklogix hardware and software development kits. The product uses standard radio technologies such as GSM/GPRS, Bluetooth, and 802.11b. WorkAbout Pro is available in two models: The entry-level WorkAbout Pro M features a monochrome touch display, 32 MB Flash, and 64 MB SDRAM; the WorkAbout Pro C has a color touch display, an embedded Bluetooth radio, 32 MB Flash, and 128 MB SDRAM. At Mobile DevCon, Psion Teklogix is also exhibiting its clamshell mobile computer, NetBook Pro, unveiled last fall.

Sierra Wireless will bundle Handango's Handango InHand, an on-device catalog of applications and digital media, on all versions of its Voq Professional Phone. The Voq Professional Phone combines the features of a mobile phone, a messaging device, and personal digital assistant (PDA). Handango InHand will be rebranded on the Voq Professional Phone as the Voq Software Store. The Voq Software Store will give users access to numerous games, utilities, and entertainment, productivity, business, and travel software selected from Handango's catalog of more than 800 Windows Mobile Smartphones applications. The new Voq Professional Phone will be available in the second quarter of this year.
