Optimize Internet communication with IP*Works! V6 and improve imaging and compression functionality with LeadTools Raster Imaging Pro.

In addition to new products from /n Software and Lead Technologies announced at VSLive! San Francisco today, Infragistics is showing off its NetAdvantage 2004 user interface development toolset. Here's a quick overview of all three vendors' products.

/n Software has released IP*Works! version 6.0 for the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework. IP*Works! version 6.0 is a suite of more than 40 components that help developers build Internet communications solutions. IP*Works! contains interfaces to Internet Mail and Usenet News, as well as TCP/IP programming tools. IP*Works! V6 includes these new components: RSS, for creating, modifying, and retrieving RSS feeds; a DNS component; SNMPMgr, an SNMP manager component that supports SNMP version 3; NetDial, providing access to RAS communications and dial-up networking; SMPP (Short Message Peer-to-Peer), a client component for sending SMS cellular text messages; a WebDav client component for distributed Web authoring, versioning, and collaboration; and XMPP, a lightweight Jabber client for communication with XML-based Jabber servers. /n Software has upgraded every component in version 6.0 with simplified interfaces, expanded documentation, and more sample applications.

Lead Technologies' LeadTools Raster Imaging Pro for .NET lets developers create applications that include fully managed comprehensive imaging and/or compression functionality. Features include more than 150 digital image processing filters and transforms; the ability to load, save, and convert more than 140 file formats and subformats; the ability to render images directly using GDI+; support for bit rates ranging from 1 to 64 bits per pixel including grayscale; memory compression with RLE, FAX, or CMP TWAIN v1.9 compatible scanning; document image cleanup; OCR support to convert images into text used as strings in code or saved in document, database, or spreadsheet formats; and annotation capabilities that allow the addition of text, highlights, and vector objects. LeadTools Raster Imaging Pro for .NET includes many demos with VB.NET and C# source code.

Infragistics recently debuted its Infragistics NetAdvantage 2004 Vol. 1, a complete toolset for developing user interfaces for Windows Forms, ASP.NET, Tablet PC, and COM. NetAdvantage 2004 Vol. 1's new features for Windows Forms include the ability to replicate the Outlook 2003 look and feel for the Windows Forms explorer bar and scheduling elements, new WinChart types, and new WinEditors enhancements. Additions for ASP.NET include ASP.NET Presentation Layer Framework improvements and new data input elements. At VSLive!, Infragistics announced its intention to ship Visual Studio 2005–compatible bits for Infragistics NetAdvantage 2004 throughout this year.
