.NET Compact Framework Products Announced

Vendors exhibiting at VSLive! were among several announcing support for Microsoft's .NET Compact Framework, which was released in a beta 2 version yesterday.
/n software inc. announced three new products for the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework, IP*Works!, IP*Works! SSL, and IP*Works! Zip. Together, the products provide more then 50 royalty-free components allowing developers to easily implement Internet communication, security, and compression within the .NET Compact Framework.
IP*Works! includes more than 30 fully-managed components for Internet development implementing Internet Protocols such as HTTP, FTP, SOAP, SMTP, POP, IMAP, SNMP, NNTP, XML, MIME, Telnet, etc. IP*Works! SSL consists of 15 pure C# .NET components for secure Internet connectivity including HTTPS, SOAPS, SMTPS, POPS, IMAPS, FTPS, LDAPS, NNTPS, TelnetS, and Digital Certificate Authentication. IP*Works! Zip is a suite of compression and archiving components supporting major standards such as Zip, Tar, Jar, and Gzip, written entirely in managed code.
Public Beta versions of IP*Works! and IP*Works! Zip for the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework are available for download from the /n software website. IP*Works! SSL for the Microsoft .NET Compact Framework will be available later this month.
DevelopMentor Inc. is launching a new course for developers on the .NET Compact Framework. "Essential .NET Compact Framework" is a new four-day course for .NET developers preparing to meet the challenges they'll encounter while developing rich applications for mobile devices, such as operating with limited memory and designing smaller displays.
The initial offering of "Essential .NET Compact Framework" will be held at the DevelopMentor corporate headquarters and training facility in Torrance, CA, on December 3, 2002 with Jim Wilson as the course author and instructor.

Microsoft listed several partners announcing compatible products. According to Microsoft, the list includes /n software Inc., Agilent Technologies, Accompany ME Technology, Computer Associates International Inc., eDial Inc., FlyteComm Corp., FMS Inc., GeoComm Systems, GeoVector Corp., MakeLogic, Intrinsyc Software Inc., Numeric Computer Systems Inc., PreEmptive Solutions Inc., SoftWIRE Technology, Sylvan Ascent Inc., Vertigo Software Inc. and Xceed Software Inc. SQL Server CE 2.0 partners include Entrada, Nevalon Technologies LLC and Pen Rite Systems, according to Microsoft.
