Java and J2EE have been adopted as critical application infrastructure by major commercial institutions and are also being adopted by government agencies for effective processing of sensitive information and for use in various military solutions. While these two market segments might first appear unrelated, numerous aspects of each are applicable to the other, especially with new government regulations. In his keynote at Java Pro Live!, BEA Systems' Chief Security Architect Paul Patrick explored the similarities between these different environments and the growing use of service-oriented security infrastructures that can leverage existing investments and support dynamic changes in business and mission requirements.
