A major business problem today is the inability to deliver quality software in line with business requirements. The end result significantly affects business. At the top line, it means a lack of ability to capitalize on new opportunities, inability to respond to the competition, and deterioration of market share. At the bottom line, it results in inefficient business processes, leading to increased cost, lack of information access, and inferior customer service. In his keynote at Java Pro Live!, George Paolini, Borland's VP and GM of developer tools, discussed the evolution of software processes, the impact of application lifecycle management solutions, and the increasing role developers play in maximizing the business value of software.
