Feedback from users suggests that the Eclipse open tool integration platform is suited for the construction of functionally rich desktop applications. The core of Eclipse's object-oriented development technologies have been restructured and repackaged, making Eclipse an open, extensible platform for application construction. In his keynote at Java Pro Live!, Eclipse Executive Director Mike Milinkovich examined the features of the Eclipse platform and how this open source software project, developed by highly distributed teams, benefits from rigorous testing and feedback from the open source community.
