With its aggressive push in the J2EE market and leadership in Web services technology, IBM has served notice that it is once again setting the agenda for enterprise computing. Now, its initiative for "e-business on demand" provides a framework to connect its many products, services, and technologies. As general manager of IBM Software's Application & Integration Middleware group, John Swainson has overall responsibility for delivering on the pieces of the strategy that involve application development, deployment, and integration.
