Agitar Adds Java Test App to IBM Rational Build Forge
Integrated solution lets developers perform unit testing of Java code and track overall life-cycle changes.

Agitar Software's Java unit testing solution is now integrated with IBM Rational Build Forge, a platform for automating the software build management process throughout its life cycle.

The integration involves Agitar's flagship product, AgitarOne, which tests Java code as units. Unit testing is a method that allows developers to test the smallest testable part of an application. It allows each part of a program to be isolated and checked to see if it is working properly.

Unit testing is for developers to "create tests for their code as they write it," according to an announcement issued by Agitar. The company's solution supports Java unit testing via the automatic generation of "JUnit tests."

The integration with IBM Rational Build Forge helps testing further on down the product development line, according to Jerry Rudisin, Agitar's CEO and president.

"Our support for the IBM Rational Software Delivery Platform complements IBM's testing solutions with a powerful solution for developer testing, making it easier for quality assurance teams to do their work, since they can integrate and system test software modules that have been tested to really work," stated Rudisin in the announcement.

The integration helps software development teams achieve the following:

  • Create reliable builds;
  • Automate the creation and execution of regression tests;
  • Provide actionable feedback on build quality; and
  • Accelerate the development cycle.

The integrated solution is currently available. Agitar earlier integrated its AgitarOne solution with the IBM Rational Software Delivery Platform in December of 2006.
