SOAs are increasingly becoming the preferred environment for enterprise applications. The benefits of standard interfaces and loose coupling between services allow for a much more dynamic and easy-to-maintain solution for corporations. However, while the concepts of SOA are simple, the implementation can pose significant challenges.

Ted Farrell discusses some of the issues and concerns that enterprises face when implementing an SOA-based solution, and shows how to greatly increase the opportunity for success through the use of a development framework. Frameworks not only can increase the productivity of the developers building the applications, but also can decrease the total cost of ownership by reducing the complexities of building and deploying composite applications.
