Localize Your Site With ASP.NET
This sample app lets you use the .NET Framework's System.Globalization namespace to build a localizable Web site.
by Jay Schmelzer

VSLive! SF, Day 2, February 13, 2002 — ASP.NET promises to increase the performance of your Web-based application, reduce the amount of time required to develop Web-based applications, and make Web applications easier to maintain. But what about your existing, in-production ASP applications? Is it really worth it to make the jump from ASP to ASP.NET? Upgrading your existing Web site can have a number of benefits, but it often makes the most sense to make the jump to ASP.NET when you can leverage the features of ASP.NET and the .NET Framework to expand the functionality of your existing site more easily.

Public Web sites often need to support users from different nationalities and multiple languages. Web site developers have taken a number of different approaches to solving the problem. For those who have not yet solved the problem, or need to enhance the functionality of their site, ASP.NET and the .NET Framework provide a built-in mechanism to localize the content of your Web site using resource files and satellite assemblies. This sample application upgradedemosetup.zip demonstrates how you can use the .NET Framework's System.Globalization namespace to build a localizable Web site.
