Introducing WinFX: The Managed Code Programming Model for Windows
WinFX is the new managed code programming model for Windows. It is a superset of the .NET Framework, combining the power of the .NET Framework 2.0 APIs with new technologies for building applications that have visually stunning user experiences, seamless and secure communication, and the ability to model a range of business processes. In this keynote, you'll get the big picture on WinFX, including an overview of its component technologies (WPF, "InfoCard", WCF and WF) and learn how WinFX works with Visual Studio 2005. You'll walk away understanding how WinFX simplifies software development and enables you to build new types of applications.
Creating the Next Gen User Experience with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF)
May 16, 10:30 a.m.
Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), formerly code named "Avalon", is Microsoft's new graphical presentation technology exposed through the WinFX APIs. It includes support for advanced typography and layout, rich media integration, and vector and 3D graphics. WPF allows you to create next-generation user experiences that can extend from the browser to the desktop. This developer overview of WPF will show you how to create richer UI for your applications whether you're building them for desktop applications or the Web.
From Username/Password to "InfoCard"
May 16, 11:45 a.m.
"InfoCard" is the codename for a new technology in WinFX that simplifies and improves the safety of accessing resources and sharing personal information on the Internet. It helps you build Web sites and software that are less susceptible to the most commonly deployed identity-related attacks such as phishing by reducing reliance on user names and passwords. In this session, we'll take a deep look into how InfoCard can bring a new level of security to your online applications.
Building Service-Oriented Applications using Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
May 16, 3:30 p.m.
Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), formerly code named "Indigo", is the unified programming model for building service-oriented applications. It enables you to build secure, reliable distributed solutions that integrate across platforms and interoperate with existing investments. This session will provide an overview of building WCF-based applications and will show how WCF combines and extends the capabilities of existing distributed systems technologies including Enterprise Services, System.Messaging, .NET Remoting, ASMX, and WSE.
Modeling Business Processes using Windows Workflow Foundation (WF)
May 16, 4:45 p.m.
Windows Workflow Foundation is the programming model, engine and tools for rapidly building workflow-enabled applications. It includes support for both system- and human-based workflow across a wide range of scenarios including line of business applications, user interface page flow, document-centric workflow, composite workflow for service-oriented applications, business rule-driven workflow and workflow for systems management. This session will provide a code-focused introduction to use of workflow in applications, including the basics of developing, designing, and debugging workflow solutions.
